VP Sales Inventory and Operations (S&OP)

MedMen is seeking a VP of Sales Inventory and Operations to join our rapidly growing team. 


The VP of S&OP must design, create, and implement an integrated business management system that demands signal for all product types and customer channels. This signal determines data for the purpose of driving the supply chain and enabling sales with optimal margin. This individual analyzes data which points out for senior management key decisions that need to be made, analyzes adherence to the strategic plan and facilitates conversations around root causes for deviation to plan. This role requires a seasoned inventory professional who is strong in inventory best practices, GAAP, replenishment & demand planning systems, and demonstrates leadership ability. This individual will lead and implement necessary KPI scorecards and benchmarking activities.  They will play a major role in Sales Inventory and Operations Planning (S&OP) process working collaboratively with purchasing, sales, operations, and branch management.
Essential Functions

  • Understand the existing MRP, scheduling and purchasing systems or methods
  • Understand cyclicality and historical customer demand
  • Design and implement an S&OP system that optimizes:
    • Revenue
    • Productivity/unit costs
    • Inventory levels
    • On-Time Delivery
    • Uptime
  • Using that S&OP process to not only buy smarter but turning outputs into relevant business insights for the executive team and internal stakeholders
  • Teach the value and importance of a robust S&OP to drive financial results and customer satisfaction
  • Prepare for and lead monthly executive review meeting 
  • Prepare for and lead as needed reviews with appropriate functional teams
  • Building collaborative forecasting processes with the planning team and sales
  • Evaluating actual performance to forecasted demand, analyzing the variances, and initiating appropriate corrective actions
  • Identification and reconciliation of issues prior to a problem occurrence
  • Preserve ability to meet un-forecasted customer demands
  • Reduce occurrence of un-forecasted demands
  • Identify and recommend capital spending or capacity enhancement projects as required
  • Anticipate, identify and address cross-functional issues as they arise
  • Know when to escalate issues and be capable of doing so
  • Analyze, recommend, and execute enhancements to inventory stocking schemes, fulfillment process flows and optimization opportunities
  • Evaluate operational demand with current inventory levels and communicate shortages
  • Ensure inventory control and cycle count programs meet Finance expectations and are consistent across all sites
  • May perform other duties as assigned
Required Education and Experience
  • 7-10 years’ experience in supply chain, demand, and/or manufacturing planning in a manufacturing environment
  • College education required - Degree in math, statistics or computer science preferred 
  • Prefer candidates that have implemented an S&OP process where one did not exist previously
  • Demonstrated success working in a cross-functional environment
  • Detailed understanding of supply chain and inventory management principles
  • Experience applying statistical forecasts and demand forecasting principles
  • Excellent leadership, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills for internal and external audiences at all levels of management and supply chain understanding
  • Proficient with MS Outlook, internet, and MS Office tools (Word, PowerPoint) with advanced Excel skills (charts, pivot tables, VLOOKUP) and PowerPoint charts
