The QA Manager will help develop and oversee all of the quality regulations, policies, and procedures. Develop, implement and enforce quality standards, policies, and programs including, but not limited to, HACCP, SQF, BRC, and GFSI, regulatory audits, food safety training programs, standard operating procedures (SOP’s), product inspections, and standardized work instructions. 
 
Essential Functions

  • Create, maintain and audit quality processes including but not limited to holding, reviewing specifications, and releasing finished product components, excipients, packaging, and finished products
  • Follow all procedures to ensure the facility is in compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 17025, and cGMP standards
  • Develop and provide training for quality requirements throughout the organization
  • Develop and maintain documentation such as SOP’s, manuals, policies and procedures
  • Conduct facility audits as well as manage third party audits
  • Compliance and audit readiness – achieve and maintain up to date standards and certifications for HACCP, Kosher, ISO, and state regulatory agencies
  • Maintain Finish Product specifications and labels (nutritional, labeling, shelf life, etc.) to ensure internal compliance
  • Monitor and verify activities to ensure that all products coming in and out of the facility meet internal quality standards
  • Maintain and update existing safety procedures and documentation to keep up with changing requirements
  • Assist buyers with training and educating potential suppliers to ensure compliance. Responsible for supplier audits and maintaining raw materials specifications to ensure compliance
  • Work closely with Manufacturing Manager and Operations Manager to correct any safety issues
  • Oversee proper maintenance and sanitation of all facility to comply with internal quality requirements
  • Ensure that all company standard operating procedures are followed and documented correctly at all times
  • Serves as the primary quality control resource for problem identification, resolution, loss reporting and continuous improvement.
  • Assists in aligning the company with cGMP, SQF and FDA standards
  • Manages quality control personnel on a day-to-day basis.
  • Designs, implements and documents procedures for process control, process improvement, testing and inspection.
  • Establishes and implements metrics (process capability, control charts, measurement quality) for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable managers to make sound product quality decisions.
  • Performs root-cause analysis and other problem solving activities to identify effective corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Establishes collection and analysis systems of statistical data to predict trends that will affect improvement of product quality.
  • Develop and conduct quality planning methods for all product lines.
  • Develops process certification standards and assist in process certification.
  • Reports to management on quality issues, trends and losses.
  • Interfaces with supplier and customer quality representatives concerning problems with quality control and assure that effective corrective action is implemented.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all QA positions of the facility and is responsible for the performance management and hiring of the employees within that department.

Work environment
This job operates in a professional facility environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. A large portion of the work will be performed in the plant where the noise may be loud.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some overtime and weekend hours expected.
 
Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, micro biology or food science.
  • 5 years of experience in laboratory or production facility quality control
  • MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good mathematical and statistical skills required.
  • Must be able to handle multiple assignments.
  • Must be precise and accurate, well organized worker.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to perform in a demanding, fast-paced environment.
  • Must have good mathematical (basic statistical skills highly desirable), problem-solving and analytical skills.


Additional Eligibility Qualifications
HACCP certified required. HACCP ADV, preferred.
  
Work Authorization/Security Clearance
There is no visa or H1-B sponsorship. Must successful complete and pass background and drug screen, and live scan.
