Director, Warehouse and Distribution

The Warehouse/Distribution Director is responsible for planning, directing, and coordinating all activities within the warehouse/distribution center operations. Will be responsible for the warehouse and inventory control functions, logistics, distribution of goods to our retail locations, wholesale customers and eCommerce fulfillment.

  • Responsible for the integrity of the warehouse/distribution center’s inventory
  • Familiarity with Horticulture Distribution Facilities
  • Ensures distribution center policies and procedures (safety, regulatory compliance, etc.) are implemented in a consistent manner and to company expectations
  • Implement cost reduction strategies in all aspects of the warehouse/distribution center’s transactions and activities
  • Participates in annual Budget preparation
  • Has full P&L responsibilities for facility
  • Reports of department and/or account productivity and profitability
  • Ensures work schedules in place to promote efficiency
  • Reviews all equipment preventative maintenance schedules and work orders
  • Develops daily productivity tracking by employee and charts monthly progress
  • Ensures proper percentage of labor is charged to respective departments to ensure proper factoring is achieved to identify accurate productivity
  • Implements safety and sanitation schedules that ensure the facilities compliance with corporate, OSHA, FDA, AIB or ASI standards
  • Ensures meetings are held reviewing warehouse issues
  • Ensures the daily pre-shift meetings cover previous productivity, operational problems, forecasting workload and any other pertinent company information
Required Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Required and Advanced Degree Preferred
  • Minimum 10 years previous experience managing a warehouse/distribution center.
  • Experience leading a warehouse team including hiring, training and motivating.
  • Multi-channel experience (retail, e-commerce, wholesale) and/or start-up experience a plus
  • Hands-on leadership style who wants to make a difference at a fast-growing company.
  • Outstanding leadership traits to include superior written, communication, problem-solving, presentation and influencing skill.
