MedMen is seeking a Sr Tax Analyst to join its Finance & Accounting team. Reporting to the Manger of Tax, the Sr Tax Analyst is responsible for working with the Tax Manager and Vice President of Tax in addressing the sales and use tax requirements of various state and local authorities, including the preparation and completion of sales and use tax processing. This person will also be involved with coordinating and gathering information needed for Sales, Use tax audits as well as other misc tax items such as property taxes, business licenses, gross receipts tax, etc. This person also works with the Tax Manager in researching technical issues, as well as addressing significant aspects of the sales and use tax and other misc tax compliance, planning and other processes. This position will be based out of the company’s Culver City, California office.

Essential Requirements/Functions
The following is a list of essential job requirements.  This list may be revised at any time and additional duties not listed here may be assigned as needed.   Job functions and Job Responsibility include, but are not limited to:
  • Prepare Monthly and Quarterly Sales and Use Tax returns in 40 plus jurisdictions using Custom software.  Knowledge of Vertex is a plus.
  • Maintain the Sales and Use Tax calendar and ensure timely filing and payment of returns.
  • Assist in Sales and Use tax audits by compiling, analyzing and providing information as required by auditors.
  • Reconcile sales/use tax payments to GL Accounts and submit adjusting entries if needed.
  • Resolve tax notices sent by various taxing authorities.
  • Assist in updating sales and use tax charts for law changes and perform research, as needed on various sales and use tax issues.
  • Maintain and provide resale certificates as required by vendors.
  • Various other projects.

Education and/or Experience
  • CPA certification required.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance, Master’s Degree in Taxation or Accounting preferred.
  • 3-5 years of relevant tax experience, with 2+ years of public accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of tax accounting principles and disclosure requirements.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state income tax, sales/use tax, excise tax and property tax compliance.
  • Knowledge of consumer packaged goods, manufacturing, distribution or retail industries preferred.
