New Store Development Manager

Purpose
The Store Development Manager reports directly to the Director of New Store Development. The Store Development Manager is responsible for providing support and recommendations in order to assist the retail operations Department and ensure operational efficiency at the field level. This position concentrates on new store openings, relocations, remodels, takeovers and other such store construction or facilities projects. In addition, this position assists on a wide range of operational administration duties to effectively assist in high volume performance and serve as a business partner to the field and corporate offices. The Store Development Manager’s customers include the field and corporate business partners.

Drives Sales and Profitability
  • Assists the Director of New Store Developement by providing various reports and all budget and expense related items.
  • Creates and manages worksheets to assist the Retail Operations Department to effectively analyze business results and opportunities.
  • Prioritizes and communicates department and new store issues to Director of New Store Development.
  • Ensures expense controls within the department are met through various efforts.
  • Ensure stores are opened consistent with the brand, with uncompromised quality, operational efficiency and within the specified timeframe.
 
Customer Service
  • Creates and maintains strong relationships with all levels of field management and corporate business partners.
  • Collaborates with various key corporate business partners to ensure maximum operational efficiency.
  • Acts as a liaison between corporate departments and field personnel.
  • Generates and distributes a variety of recurring reports and documents to select field personnel for new store openings or closings or business analysis.
  • Resolves and follows up on applicable field and corporate inquiries and outstanding issues from the store project.
 
Operations
  • Provides a wide range of administrative services, including but not limited to data entry, competitive research, organization and file system maintenance and retrieval.
  • Uses an effective planning system to ensure proper time management and follow up in order to meet deadlines.
  • Generates content for the Retail Operations Department, store opening and store construction and facility project efforts.
  • Informs Director of Store Development of any issues, concerns and needs.
  • Coordinates and plans certain details pertaining to company meetings, new store openings, remodels, relocations, closings and store construction and facility projects.
  • Communicates all operational store project information to all necessary departments and field personnel.
  • Completes special projects as assigned by the New Store Development Director.
  • Adheres to new store opening, closing, remodel and store construction or facilily project guidelines.
  • Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
 
People Development
  • Communicates company information and directives to the field and corporate business partners.
  • Ensures a high level of efficiency by assisting and coaching field and corporate business partners involved in the store project.
  • Develops an effective relationship with select corporate departments to ensure overall company timelines and objectives developed are met.
  • Assess personal operational and technical training needs required for optimal performance.

Qualifications
 
Required:
  • Bachelor degree preferred
  • Minimum 2 years of combined project management and retail operations experience
  • Highly organized and collaborative
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to learn proprietary software programs
  • Ability to work and lead cross functional teams
  • Extensive travel + non traditional work week is required

Work Environment:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
 
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.  This employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands or feet, reach with hands and arms and may be required to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
 
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. This position regularly requires long hours and frequent weekend work.
 
Travel
This position requires up to 75% travel.  Very frequent travel outside of the local area and overnight.  Some international travel may be required.
