The Production Planning Manager at MedMen is responsible for a team of Production Planners who plan the production of multiple finished goods as well as intermediary goods within the constraints of materials availability, demand forecasts, resource availability and plant capacity (plans of 1-6 months and outward). The Production Planning Manager will work closely with Demand Planning, Agriculture, Manufacturing, Procurement, Plant Management, & Inventory Management teams. The Manager will work with the Director of Supply Chain and VP of S&OP to strategize future Production Planning processes & resourcing as MedMen takes over new markets.

  • Coordinate with Demand Planning & Allocations Manager to understand the forward-looking demand plan and how that will drive production. 
  • Monitor the utilization of MRP within the production module of the ERP to confirm we are driving materials & resource need for production.
  • Continuously coordinate with the plant master scheduler as the day-to-day operations (work-orders, finish dates, etc) differ from the long-term plan.
  • Look for ways to drive output of finished goods production through optimization of intermediary goods production.
  • Work closely with cultivation and manufacturing to understand forecasted yields by product type & cultivar. 
  • Work closely with cultivation to provide a realistic long-term planting forecast. 
  • Provide weekly and monthly updates during S&OP meetings on the health of production plans.
  • Work closely with purchasing to make sure materials are scheduled to arrive in time for production.
  • Expert lead on production planning module inputs and configurations within the ERP.
  • Work with cross-functional teams within the Operations department to develop KPI’s to track the health and accuracy of the Production Planning function.
  • Work with the Quality team to ensure materials are received and pass quality inspection. If a material component fails quality inspection, work with key stakeholders to provide resolution.  
  • Coordinate with finance to compile reports for monthly, quarterly and yearly financial close.
  • Support ad hoc project requests from the director and VP.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in business analytics, supply chain, or industrial engineering preferred. 
  • Strong background in a variety of inventory management concepts, practices and procedures. Specific production planning experience preferred
  • Extensive Experience as a production planner, master scheduler, demand planner, supply planner. Previous managerial experience in production planning preferred.
  • Experience using an ERP system with MRP & MPS capabilities.

  • Strong knowledge of inventory accounting principles and controls.
  • Ability to create and implement effective processes & procedures.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, highly proficient in Excel (e.g., Excel formulas, V-lookups, pivot tables) and has skill in preparing tables, graphs, and charts.
  • Must possess strong results and goal/deadline-oriented work ethic, high attention to detail and be flexible.
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to develop and bring to completion multiple assignments concurrently.

Work environment 
This job operates in an office setting, sometimes in a retail environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, file cabinets and fax machines. This role may also require the employee to handle product, lifting boxes, taping boxes, etc

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. 

Less than 20% travel is expected for this position 
Work Authorization/Security Clearance 

There is no visa or H1-B sponsorship. Must successfully complete and pass background and drug screen, and live scan.
