Summary

The assistant product supply specialist works closely with vendors to maintain current relationships while negotiating, pricing, and meeting deadlines. He / she must be able to work independently and prioritize job duties. He / She must communicate with merchandising departments, logistics, finance, operations, marketing, and vendors to provide information and problem solve. The Assistant Product Supply Specialist is expected to communicate with all people involved in the buying process and appropriately addresses all issues within a reasonable timeline.
 

Essential Functions

  • Assist buyers and managers with writing purchase orders, buying merchandise, and managing inventory.
  • Facilitate the execution of the companies pricing strategy for products based on purchase price and market trends.
  • Complete purchase orders in accordance with supply chains requirements, completing and maintaining all relating records.
  • Perform due diligence when requesting compliance related items from vendors assuring that risk is managed appropriately. 
  • Perform ad hoc tasks and other requirements as directed by the Product Purchasing Team.
  • Tasks are completed on time in accordance with the needs of the product purchasing team and any deviations are communicated promptly.
  • Execute purchases based on a data driven strategy in accordance with Supply Chain Key Performance Indicators (inventory turns, weeks on-hand, on-time delivery)
  • Troubleshoot and solve retail issues including inventory discrepancies, product ingestion, and vendor related queries.
 

Competencies
 
  • Lean Six Sigma preferred
  • Knowledge of ERP systems – Microsoft NAV preferred
  • Project Management
  • Working knowledge of supply chain systems
  • Business analytical skills
  • Advanced Excel
  • Experience managing a complex vendor portfolio
 

Required Education and Experience
 
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Logistics, or Supply Chain Management



Work Environment

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. 


Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required. This would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand on a stool as necessary. 


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m.


Travel

Very limited local travel may be included


Work Authorization/Security Clearance 

No Hi-B sponsorship. Completion and successful passing of Background and Drug Screen. No relocation package available.
