The Associate Director Safety and Security will report to the Director of Loss Prevention and is responsible for promoting the Asset Protection key objectives through ensuring the safety, security, and protection of Medmen personnel and company assets within the corporate, retail, and distribution warehouse environment. This position will effectively lead, manage and support the security and safety program for the corporate offices, retail store, and distribution warehouses to include physical security, fire and life safety, alarm response, access control, visitor’s control, CCTV, etc. The Associate Director role is responsible for the supervision of security personnel and the oversight of Fire/Life Safety systems, equipment and processes. The Associate Director will lead, drive and promote effective crisis and incident management. The Associate Director may also participate, as directed, in on-going company initiatives and independently communicate with associates at all levels of the organization.

  • Provide effective security for the corporate offices to include executive protection, physical security, life/safety response, alarm response, access control, visitor control, CCTV, etc.
  • Develops action plans with partners to ensure execution and follow up of physical security gaps.
  • Mitigating safety and security risk through preparedness and response.
  • Conduct physical building security risk assessments, surveys, and physical penetration testing.
  • Lead and own all responsibilities related to security, fire safety and emergency action plans.
  • Lead efforts on the development and delivery of emergency response programs.
  • Develop tailored training and awareness materials as directed.
  • Identify and maintain exceptional 3rd party vendors.
  • Ensure that life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional.
  • Lead fire/life safety efforts on behalf of the organization.
  • Maintain compliance and records as required by jurisdiction and code.
  • Provide/coordinate all emergency response training.
  • Responsible to ensure security personnel are trained and certified to effectively respond to emergencies.
  • Must be able to provide clear direction, information and assistance to all associates, guests and visitors.
  • Identify and recruit top talent for guard teams and corporate organizational safety & security staff.
  • Foster effective internal and external communication through regular statuses with team and partners.

Required Skills:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • 10 years of corporate security/life safety experience at leadership level. Former law enforcement/fire department/leader level a plus.
  • Proficient in MS suite programs/Power Point/Excel/e-mail and internet.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Strong personal and professional ethics and integrity.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to make appropriate decisions in stressful situations.
  • Must be able to respond appropriately during crisis events
  • Must be willing to travel as directed for assignment and be willing to work off hours and weekends as/if needed.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills required.
  • Strong analytical and time management skills.
