Summary/Objective

The quality assurance/control tech conducts quality assurance audits of cultivation and manufacturing facilities assuring company standards are maintained and product integrity is preserved. Consults with cultivation and manufacturing management to resolve quality, production, and efficiency problems. Functions as an information source to various company departments when special and critical quality issues occur. Function in conjunction with manager, quality assurance services, on special department projects.

Essential Functions

  • Confirm that facility audit procedures are properly carried out and assigned work schedules are maintained.
  • Following-up on and closing pending preventive and corrective action requests.
  • Determine overall facility product quality by conducting and evaluating various product tests and tests related to ingredients and packaging.
  • Review and confirm accuracy of all batch records and batch testing results.
  • Hold, inspect, and release all materials received for use of production of finished goods.
  • Resolve major quality problems at production facilities as required.
  • Evaluate and take corrective action when necessary with regard to product date coding and trade age management at all levels of product movement.
  • Educate and instruct facility personnel in recommended quality control testing, equipment sanitation and general sanitation and housekeeping practices. Confirm these procedures are being maintained.
  • Consult with facility management and personnel on better operational procedures to improve overall efficiency and product yields.
  • Discuss facility evaluation with management, make appropriate recommendations and set timetable for improvement and corrections.
  • Function as an information source for departments when critical quality issues arise.
  • Prepare facility evaluation reports and submit them to manager, quality assurance services.
  • Assist in development of special department projects and work in conjunction with manager, quality assurance services.
  • Retrieve and review external finished product testing results
  • Assisting the management team and provide QA support as necessary.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities, but does serve as a coach and mentor for other positions in the department.

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional facility environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. A large portion of the work will be performed in the plant where the noise may be loud.

The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
 
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
Must be available during the “core” work hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some overtime and weekend hours expected.

Travel
No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, micro biology or food science.
  • 2-4 years of experience in field, laboratory, or production facility quality control. 


Preferred Education and Experience  
  • Team leader experience.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
There is no visa or H1-B sponsorship. Must successful complete and pass background and drug screen, and live scan.
